Facilities Management Frequently Asked Questions

When is the maintenance request that we turned in for my school going to start and be completed?
A request for services can take from one day to one month for turn around, depending on the request for services. However, the site submitting the request can expect an answer in writing sooner than that regarding a time frame for a start date and a complete date.

Breaks – 8:30am to 8:45am & 1:30pm to 1:45pm
     Lunch – 11:30am to N00N

Nighttime work hours – 2:30pm to 10:00pm

Who is allowed to use school property?
The community has the right to use a school site as long as there is a Use of School Facilities Permit approval. Requests must be submitted a minimum of three weeks prior to the event. Proof of liability insurance must be attached to the permit. All fees must be paid prior to use of the facilities. The Maintenance Department will arrange overtime staff as needed.

What is a run assignment for the plant staff?
The custodial department of this school district has a key part in the educational program. They serve to provide a clean, healthy, and safe learning environment for students and staff. Clean schools enhance the image of our schools to the community. The run assignment is the day-to-day description of work the custodians are to complete in a given day. Such tasks may include cleaning specific buildings, checking restrooms, picking up paper on the campus, completing special project as needed, and picking up garbage at lunch. The run assignment helps the site principals and custodial staff keep the site clean.

Whose responsibility is it to lock up the school site?
The custodian is responsible for the security of all building on the site. He/she is to allow no one access unless they have permission to be there from the site principal or supervisor (either verbally or a written note). The custodian makes a security check of all doors and windows and sets the school security alarm before he/she leave the site.
